THIS MONTH'S FEATURED BUSINESSES:

Why advertising in the regional press can help my business grow?

British people are among the most avid newspaper readers in the world. 85% of all British adults (that's 40 million of us) regularly read a regional or local newspaper making them the most widely read medium in the country, outstripping both magazines and national newspapers. Comparatively only 70% of British adults regularly read a national newspaper and more than 30% of us who read a local paper, do not read a national one.

Local papers are accepted by most people as the dominant source of information in their area and influence big decisions such as change of job or house and all major purchasing habits and patterns.

They work because they are intrinsically part of the local community, are respected and trusted and furthermore speak to thousands of people every day via news and advertisement content.

Advertising in your local newspaper can help your business in a variety of positive ways. It can help establish brand and brand association, increase footfall, create demand, build business reputation, target your audience, bring competitive advantage, influence markets and establish trends and stimulate purchase. Indeed a study commissioned by the Newspaper Society (governing body of the regional press) found that 89% of brands achieved a significant rise in awareness due to advertising in the local press.
